27 weeks....about 10 more to go!

Thank goodness I had already taken off work today for my 27 week growth scan because the weather is cold and icy outside today! And it's just supposed to get worse tonight...hopefully work will be cancelled tomorrow! I'm just glad to be home and warm with my little luvbug today rather than out on those bad roads.

Soooo...I went for my 27 week growth scan today, and once again...everything is perfect! Emily and Allie are a few ounces short of 2 pounds each now. They have gained about a pound each in four weeks. At that rate, they'll be 5 or 6 pounds each when they get here. My fluid levels are great and there are no signs of pre-term labor (which gets very common in the last trimester of twin pregnancy). And , their heads are down now, which is a change. They have been breach basically the whole time. My specialist said he couldn't have a better report for us. We took Landon this time because we wanted him to see his sisters. He didn't really get it, though. He was more interested in checking out all of the equipment. I asked Chris to snap a few pics of him, but did that happen? No. He gets very interested in everything the doctor is saying, so picture taking was forgotten about. Oh well...we'll take him again and I'll try to get a few next time.

So far, this pregnancy has been great. I expected it to be much worse than last time, but it's actually been better. I haven't gained near as much weight (so far) and I'm less swollen than last time (once again, so far). I still have about 10 weeks left, so I hope it doesn't get too hard. Lately, I have been getting very tired very easily. I'm very "out front" this time and I feel like if I lean forward just a little bit, I'll topple over. I do swell on occasion, but my blood pressure has been great...so no worries there. I have my blood glucose test in two weeks, so lets hope I pass so I don't have to give up sweets (my craving this time around). After that appt., I start going to the doctor every single week until the girls come.

I posted a few pics of my 27 week growing belly that I took earlier today. I hate all prego pics of myself, but I know I will want them later...especially when I get my blog book made.

Landon performing again

Here's Landon singing some songs, counting, and talking about his baby sisters. He's a cutie!

To clarify...

A few of you were asking about the Maggie sign on the bed in the picture. Those two pictures are from a website...that's not my actual bedding. I've ordered that bedding, but it hasn't come in yet. The bedding is called "Maggie". That's why it's labeled that way. As soon as I get the bedding in, the room all painted, and the new carpet, I'll start posting pictures of Allie Kathryn and Emily Grace's room.

The twin's nursery is finally in the making!

We are finally getting somewhere with the girl's nursery! We had a lot of work to do before we could get started, such as emptying and throwing out 5 years worth of useless crap that had piled up in what used to be Chris' office. That alone took forever because we had to go through all of it, decide what to keep/throw out, and then find a place for what we decided we needed to hold onto. Once this was complete, Chris had to pull down the hideous border that was put up by the previous owners. I swear it was put on with cement! It was sooooo hard to remove. He then had to apply texture to the wall that was underneath the border. Anyhow...all the prep took a while and the painting is finally underway!
And...after many hours of internet browsing and looking at numerous baby shops, I have finally decided on baby bedding for Emily and Allie. It is sooooo freakin cute, although it isn't what I set out for in the beginning. I originally had my mind set on a vintage/antique, floral, shabby chic, very girly type of theme. That was until I went out to Lone Star Baby in Dallas. I found THE CUTEST bedding ever. The pictures don't really do it justice because it makes it look all faded and drab. It is actually pretty bright and cheery. I think if you click on the picture, it will get nice and big for you to see. It has about 3 different shades of pink, kind of a limey green, brown, and cream. It has several different prints including polka dots, paisley, stripes, and solids. It has ruffles and ribbons, too...which I LOVE cause I'm all about the really girly girly stuff right now. The minute I saw it I knew it was for my girls! Although I would love to do stripes or polka dots or something fancy with the paint, we aren't going into too much detail with the walls. We don't know exactly how long we will be here because it's gonna be a tight fit with 5 people in a 3 bedroom house (plus Chris no longer has a home office). So for now, we are just doing three creamish-tan walls and one pink accent wall. The 2 cribs will go up against the pink wall and I'm gonna do their names in wooden letters painted brown with lime green polka dots (the same print as the crib sheets). I hope it all comes together like I'm picturing!

Whoa! The belly is getting bigggggggg!

I'm 22 weeks pregnant now, and my belly is definitely growing growing growing! I'm measuring right at 26 weeks, which is one month ahead of where I actually am. This is perfect for twins, though. I went to the Dr. this week and the babies are absolutely perfect. I had my growth scan (high-tech sonogram that I get monthly), and every aspect of the baby's anatomies are right on target. They weigh 1.0 pound and 1.2 pounds. And...they're still girls! Most of you know that I was a bit concerned about that since I was told Landon was a girl. Dr. Payne is a specialist and he is positive that these babies are girls, so he has me convinced now.

My multiple's specialist, Dr. Payne, told me that he wouldn't let me go past 38 weeks, so I guess that makes my new due date April 23 rather than May 7. I will be lucky to make it that far though. Most twins are born right around weeks 36-37, so I'm aiming for sometime beginning to mid-April. It would be so fun if they came on April 14 because 2 of my best friends, Stevi and Kendra, had their sweeties (Grayson & Kennedy) on that day. It must be a special day, so we'll see!

I was also told that I must quit working by spring break. That is if everything goes perfect from this point on. Soooo...it could be even sooner than that if my blood pressure goes up, I start to swell, etc. etc. Lets hope none of that happens! I would hate to be put on bedrest, but unfortunately it is very common with twins. Just about every single twin mommy I've spoke with was put on some sort of bedrest before the babies came. Anyhow...2 1/2 more months of teaching is all I have left if everything goes good.

We are pretty set on the names now, except for one little aspect. We know one of the girls is definitely Emily Grace, but we are still not positive about Allie's name. We know her first name is Allie, but Chris likes it spelled, "Alli" and I like "Allie". And he likes Alli Catherine and I like Allie Kate. So....I'll be getting my way soon, I just don't know when he'll agree to it :)

All in all, this pregnancy is going great. I'm beginning to feel the effects of being in the 3rd trimester (since I'm measuring ahead of time). All you mommies out there know what the 3rd trimester feels like. Just tired from chasing a toddler around, not sleeping very well, achy back, etc. I don't have much to complain about though. These girls are treating me pretty well so far!

Enjoy the belly pics! Ignore the way I look please! It was very late at night, no make-up, and very tired. And I'm not exactly sure what that white spot on my leg is...
