Big Boy Bed

We finally got Landon's toddler bed turned into a full bed. We have been needing to do this for a while seeing as how we needed the mattress for one of the cribs. So, this weekend...mission accomplished. We were a little worried about this transition because Landon has been sleeping with us since November when we went to Vegas. He slept in Nana's bed for the four nights we were gone, and he has been in our bed ever since. Fortunately, the transition hasn't been bad at all. Like we expected, one of us has to lay down with him for a little while until he drifts off to sleep, but then he does great. So far, he has slept in his new big boy bed twice..sat and sun night. Saturday night, he woke up terrified and walked into our room sobbing at 4:30 am, and I just had to let him climb up into bed with us. Sunday night, he made it all the way till 5:00 am, and then calmly walked into our room to get in bed with us...no crying this time. We figure it is okay for him to come to our bed for a while, while he gets used to being alone in his own room again. At this point, we are just so proud of him for making it almost the whole night! We thought it would be much harder on him than it has been. Anyhow...we hope he continues to do so well in his own room because we are about to add two more babies to our room!

Allie and Emily's nursery is coming along...

My adorable baby bedding finally arrived!!!! and I love it!!!!! The nursery still has a ways to go, but it's coming right along. My plan was to work on it (complete it) during spring break, but my bedrest kinda threw that idea out the window. I want to shop so bad, but I can't!! Although, I have been doing a little online shopping which is nice. Here are a few pics...click on them to make them bigger.
Kendra's mom covered these seat cushions and made the pink pillow for me. She did great!!

Just some cute girly stuff in the nursery.

Brookie made me these adorable canvas paintings! She's so talented!

Changing table, glider, etc.

My mom and I made these letters for the wall. That wall is pink if you can't tell.

Ditto!

Close-up of the cute bedding.

Wow! Two baby beds!

33 weeks prego!

I'm about one week into bedrest now, and it's okay I guess. People keep telling me to take advantage of this downtime cause it's gonna be super busy once the girls arrive. So, I'm trying to just enjoy being lazy. I had my 33 week appt. today with my specialist, so I was actually able to get out for a little while. It was kinda nice getting dressed in real clothes. Anyhow, the appt. went great. The girls are growing and thriving nicely. They weigh 4.8 lbs. and 5.0 lbs. now. Like usual, he had only positive things to say. I have a gut feeling that they will be here in about 2-3 weeks. Noone has told me that (the doctors can't tell just yet), I just think it. Who knows, though...they could surprise me and stay in another 4-5 weeks. Lord help me, if that's the case.

I've posted a few pics...one of me today in my kitchen. Geeeez...I'm huge.
The other 2 are of Landon eating his pudding for dessert last night (playing rather than eating) and Landon all cleaned up after his shower in his jammies. He's 2 years, 7 months now and such a fun boy to be around! We are cherishing every moment we have left together as a family of 3.

Bedrest

Well, after a long weekend in the hospital, I am now confined to my bed/couch until these little ladies arrive. My doctor's orders are strict bedrest with bathroom privelages. What would I do without those privelages??!! Other than a 10 minute shower and potty time, I can't get up. I know that this is the best thing for my little luvbugs, but geeeeezzzz...how boring! I've done this for about one full week now (including my hospital stay), and I've gotten a pretty nice little routine down. Interested...here it is:

*Wake up and love on my little man (as much as I can in a horizontal position).

*Change locations...the big move from my bed to my couch.

*Watch a plethera of daytime television which includes the morning news, The Price is Right, Rachel Ray, Paula  Dean, Everyday Italian, A Baby Story (twice), Bringing Home Baby (twice), Ellen, Oprah, and the afternoon news.  I do sneak into the kitchen for a bite to eat for lunch sometime in between all of this fun....not supposed to, but I have to eat!

*Usually, by the time the afternoon news is over, Chris and Landon are getting home. The rest of my day is spent visiting with them while they hang out with me in the living room and Chris tackles the nightly routine of making dinner, bathing Landon, cleaning the kitchen, getting Landon to bed, and finishing any other housework that needs to be done.

*Lastly, I get to change locations again (back to the bed), and go nighty-night.

I know you are all very jealous of my exciting days. I've been very lucky to have my mom come over several days this week to help around the house. She has cleaned, done laundry, cooked dinner, worked in the yard, etc. She is an international flight attendant and was able to take off the entire months of March and April to be with me. Chris is doing AWESOME acting as "house-husband", but my mother's extra help is much appreciated. It's so funny watching him try to multi-task around the house. As most women know...we are able to make dinner, fold laundry, and vaccum all at the same time. Men just can't multi-task like we can. Chris is getting it all done, just not quite as fast as I'm used to :) He's such a perfect husband and father. I love you, baby!

I'm very lucky to have lots of friends and family around to help me out during this time. I've had several offers for dinner to be made for us. I've had friends offer to help around the house. My BFF Heather just stopped by so I could have some company, and she brought me Starbucks and Twilight to start reading. She also brought me my No Doubt concert ticket which is at the end of May! Yay...can't wait for that! I have another friend, Cara, who is gonna come over and visit and bring me some TCBY this afternoon. YUMMY! So...if any of you are looking for something to do, come on over...I am so bored and when my mom's not here, it's pretty lonely.

Pregnancy Update...I will be 33 weeks tomorrow. The doctor says that if I can make it to 36 weeks, we are pretty much in the clear regarding the babies health and development. I am taking a pill every 6 hours to decrease (try to eliminate) contractions, plus strict bedrest. So far, these interventions are working. I'm hoping that my doctor will allow me to go off bedrest and stop the medication at 36 weeks and just let nature do it's thing. We'll see. I am going to the doctor twice a week (Thank you Chris and Mom for taking me!). Unless the babies are showing signs of distress or their enviornment isn't sufficient for their livelyhood, they will let me stay pregnant. The girls have always looked just fine, so I'm guessing I have about 3-4 weeks left. Most twins come at 36-37 weeks. Okay, I'll stop rambling now...this post is getting super long. Gotta figure out how I'm gonna get some lunch :)

Hospital visit

Well, here I am...sitting in my hospital room hooked up to some monitors and TOTALLY bored. Yesterday was a very busy day for me, and I think I was a little too hard on my pregnant body. I had a Dr. appt. at 8:15 am, then work, then Open House at my school, and then dinner with my 3rd grade team. I never stopped for about 14 hours, and now I'm paying for it. I started having contractions during Open House...which I assumed were just the usual Braxton Hicks (fake contractions that prepare you for the real thing). By the time I got to dinner with my team, they were coming every 2 minutes, which is more typical of real labor contractions. I called my Doctor, and he told me to get to the hospital right away. Soooo...Chris came and got me and we headed up here. They tried giving me a shot to stop the contractions, but it didn't work. So, they admitted me and tried a different kind of oral medicine all night and all day today, which has been working. They want me to stay again tonight for observation. Good news is...the baby girls look perfect! If the meds continue to work, hopefully I will get to go home tomorrow. The nurse said that, more than likely, I will continue to take the meds until about 35 weeks (3 weeks from now) and be on strict bedrest at home. Who knows...we'll see what happens when my doctor makes her rounds in the morning. I'll keep you updated!

The girls are growing!

No pics today, just a little update on my baby girls. I went to get my sonogram today, and Emily and Allie looked fabulous once again! They are really starting to grow now. Exactly 2 weeks ago, they weighed 3.0 and 3.1 pounds. Today they weighed 3.9 and 4.2 pounds! They gained quite a bit in only 2 weeks! I go every single week now, so I'm anxious to see how much they grow on a weekly basis.

My baby shower is this weekend, and I'm super excited to get some cute girly stuff! Girl stuff is so exciting when all you've ever bought is boy stuff. I must say, shopping for girls is much more fun.

Only 7 more days of work until I'm officially a stay-at-home mom!!!! Hooray!!!!!

Birthday/Anniversary Getaway

My husband is the sweetest man ever! He emailed me last week and told me to not make any plans this weekend because he was taking me somewhere for my 30th birthday/our 5-year anniversary. He arranged for Landon to stay with his grandparents and we headed out the door around 9 am Saturday. After bugging him for a bit, I got him to tell me where we were going before we even left Arlington. We were on our way to the Barton Creek Resort and Spa in Austin! It is a 5-Star resort in the hill country and it was absolutely beautiful. He had an entire spa day planned for me when we arrived. I got a 50-minute prenatal massage followed by a 50-minute deluxe facial. Next, I got a 50-minute hot stone pedicure.  Needless to say, I was VERY relaxed after all that pampering! Just what a pregnant chick needs! Chris played a round of golf on one of their 4 courses while I was enjoying my spa treatments. That evening, we went downtown to McCormicks and Schmicks, where Chris had previously made 8:30 reservations. We had steak and lobster...yummy! We got to bed early and slept late...what a perfect weekend! Thank you sweetie! I love you so so so so much!!!!! Below is a picture of us at dinner...I HATE pictures of me right now, but I knew I needed atleast one of my 30th birthday. The other is me at 30 1/2 weeks....and yes, I feel as if I'm going to topple over forward at any time....getting very big and uncomfortable.
